Kelly Whetstone is the Chief Compliance Officer and Associate General Counsel of MLG Capital. In this capacity, Kelly leads the firm’s regulatory and compliance program, provides strategic legal guidance across the organization, and works closely with executive leadership to support firmwide governance, risk management, and growth initiatives.
Prior to joining MLG, Kelly served as Deputy General Counsel of ACA Group, where she supported the full scope of the company’s legal, regulatory, and corporate governance functions. In that role, she advised senior management on complex compliance and regulatory matters, oversaw legal operations across multiple business lines, and supported mergers, acquisitions, and strategic initiatives. Before ACA, Kelly held roles as counsel and chief compliance officer to other regulated entities, and earlier in her career, she practiced as an associate at a major U.S. law firm.
She also serves as Secretary and Director for the Association of Corporate Counsel Northeast Chapter, which provides education and networking for in-house lawyers across New England, and as a Trustee of the Eastern Trail Alliance, a nonprofit dedicated to expanding and preserving Maine’s scenic multi-use greenway.
Kelly lives outside Portland, Maine with her husband, daughter, and their Bernese Mountain Dog. Outside of work, she enjoys running, hiking, and yoga.
